St. John’s, NL – Pennecon today launched a refreshed brand, which modernizes its image and highlights its ability to provide integrated solutions, poising the construction and services company for success as it expands its operations across Canada and the world.
The announcement coincides with a change in the company’s ownership, following the finalization of shareholder Larry Puddister’s purchase of the shares formerly owned by his late business partner Ches Penney. Bringing to fruition the succession plan inked by Puddister and Penney over a decade ago, the buy-out is the first stage of a plan that will see Pennecon transition to employee-ownership.
Pennecon’s new brand reflects the significant growth the company has undergone since it was first established in 1970 as a small paving company with operations localized on Newfoundland and Labrador’s Avalon Peninsula. Since then, it has grown into a multi-disciplined company with over 2,000 employees working in six provinces across Canada.
Complex jobs, challenging environments, and integrated solutions are hallmarks of Pennecon’s new brand, which includes a refreshed logo, new website and related marketing materials. Four newly realigned divisions – Heavy Civil, Industrial, Services & Maintenance, and Marine – are now integrated under a single brand, demonstrating the team’s ability to work together to manage every stage, from breaking new ground to commissioning and life-of-project site maintenance.
Employees and stakeholders gathered on May 11 to commemorate Pennecon’s new brand by launching a new partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (CMHA-NL), at which Puddister presented a $250,000 cheque to CMHA-NL Executive Director Dan Goodyear.
Pennecon remains headquartered in St. John’s, with a regional office in Edmonton, as well as shops and operations throughout Atlantic Canada, and projects sites in Ontario and Manitoba.
