Supply, Program & Commission the tank farm control system.
Pennecon Services & Maintenance’s, The Panel Shop was contracted to manufacture the control system components including the Main PLC Control Panel, SCADA PC with Trihedral Engineering’s VTScada software, various process control and junction boxes – many of which were certified for installation in hazardous locations. Custom programming and testing were carried out at our Fredericton NB location prior to the Control Panels being shipped to Bermuda for installation by Phoenix petroleum.
Due to the travel restrictions from COVID 19, it was decided to do the commissioning remotely with the assistance of Phoenix Petroleum’s on-site personnel. Our senior technician worked 12 hour days 7 days a week, always communicating closely with the onsite personnel to achieve a successful start-up and commissioning of equipment, that he could only visualize via an internet connection and software.
Safety was our primary concern, so there was frequent checkpoints and detailed discussions, to ensure everyone was comfortable to complete the work in this innovative manner.
After many long days, we were able to successfully complete the commissioning and our obligations to our customer were met, even though we were not able to attend the remote site in person. This could not have been accomplished without the complete buy in from all involved.
