Jim Tobin is an experienced business leader with nearly two decades of progressive experience in electrical, mechanical, and rotating equipment services across the oil and gas, marine, utility, and industrial sectors. An Electrical Engineering Technologist by training, Jim combines a strong technical foundation with proven leadership in operations, account management, and business development, having held senior roles in service and repair operations and strategic growth initiatives.

His career has taken him from the offshore energy sector in Newfoundland and Labrador to leading service operations on Canada’s West Coast, giving him a diverse perspective on complex projects and customer needs. Jim is recognized as a driver of positive change, focused on improving service delivery, fostering innovation, and building a strong, collaborative culture. He specializes in delivering reliable service solutions, contract and project management, and lifecycle support while maintaining a strong emphasis on safety, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.

Throughout his career, he has successfully led multidisciplinary teams, strengthened client relationships, and executed critical projects in demanding environments. As General Manager of GIP Technical Services, Jim provides strategic and operational leadership to position the company for sustainable growth and continued success, while promoting collaboration and a culture built on accountability, trust, and performance.
