Lorne Bennett

Executive Vice President, HR & Corporate Support

Lorne has been working with Pennecon since 2007.  He is responsible for providing Human Resources, Labour Relations and Indigenous Relations advice and support to all Pennecon’s business units and Executive Team.  Along with members of the Pennecon Corporate HR Team, the HR & Corporate Support function develops policies, programs and processes to advance and progress Pennecon’s business strategy.

Lorne graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1988 with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Human Resources and Labour Relations.  He continued his education in 1996 and graduated with a Masters, Industrial Relations from Queen’s University, in Kingston, Ontario.  In 2018, he completed a Masters Certificate in Project Management from York University, through the Schulich School of Business and Memorial University Gardiner Institute.

Previously, Lorne held various positions in the oil and gas sector, including his role as the Labour Relations Advisor for Hibernia Management and Development Company , as well as Human Resources Manager for Imperial Oil’s Nanticoke Refinery in Ontario.  Prior to that, he worked in the Newfoundland and Labrador provincial healthcare sector as a labour relations consultant, representing employers in collective bargaining, grievance management, arbitration and collective agreement interpretation.
