Pennecon was awarded the contract to complete the mechanical and electrical balance of plant for the Synchronous Condenser Facility located at Soldier’s Pond, approx. 30km west of St. John’s.
Work included:
- Installation of LV & MV substation service switchgear
- Installation of AC & DC equipment
- Installation of control & protection panels
- Installation and welding of aluminum isolated phase bus
- Installation and connection of Transformers up to 230KV
- Installation of duct banks, cable pulls & cable terminations
- Commissioning support
- General electrical installations
- Installation and assembly of SC units
- Installation of various pre-manufactured skids (pumps, exchangers, tanks)
- Installation of three cooling tower units
- Installation and fabrication of various piping systems (cooling water, lube oil, hydrogen gas, compressed air)
- Installation of emergency backup diesel generator
- General mechanical works (anchor bolts, grouting of equipment, installation of structural support steel)
