Pennecon Hydraulic Systems (PHS) and Palfinger Marine are supplying the replacement Buoy Handling Crane for the CCGS Edward Cornwallis. This crane has an 800 tonne meter capacity and is being installed onto a Coastguard Icebreaker and as such is full rated for Lloyds Register Ice Classification. The crane has completed its factory acceptance test in the Palfinger Marine Facility in Gdynia, Poland, which was witnessed by the Coastguard and Public Works representatives for Canada. It is due for delivery in November 2019.
This is one of thirteen cranes PHS has supplied to the Canadian Coastguard in the last three years and is the largest crane to date.
