Larry Puddister, P.Eng., Executive Chairman

Since joining Pennecon in 2005, Larry has played an important role in our growth and success. As a professional engineer with keen instincts and an in-depth knowledge of the industry, Larry’s leadership has helped us continue to be an industry leader in all divisions. Larry has more than 20 years of experience in the civil engineering field, exclusively construction related, and his experience covers a wide variety of projects ranging from hydro developments to major concrete construction, mine developments, commercial development, road construction and other heavy civil projects.

Larry graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1993 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons), and he’s held a number of diverse roles with Pennecon, including Chief Operating Officer, general management, project management, estimation, sub-contractor coordination, and field engineering and quality assurance.

Previously, Larry worked with McNamara Construction Company from 1987 to 1993 as estimator and project engineer, moving on to become Senior Project Manager and Estimator from 1994 to 1996. From 1997 to 2005 he was President and General Manager with Northland Contracting Inc., and from 2005 to 2006 was the Managing Director of the Heavy Civil Division of Pennecon Limited, where he was responsible for managing all aspects of the Heavy Civil Division.


Gail Penney, President, Penney Group

As President of Principal Holdings Ltd., Seven Lakes Developments Ltd. and Director of Pennecon Limited, Gail provides valuable counsel or management for the majority of the Penney Group's holdings. She regularly volunteers her expertise with several community groups, including Junior Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador Board of Directors, as Chair of the JA Business Hall of Fame Committee and as a Board Member of Lady Cove Choir. Prior to joining our group in 2005, Gail (M.Ed, MBA, ICD.D) taught in the public and tertiary education setting for 18 years.


Fred Taylor, Director, Penney Group

Mr. Taylor is a director of Penney Group Inc. and Pennecon Limited.

Fred’s long history with Penney Group Inc. and Pennecon Limited began in August 1963 as Comptroller, which included real estate holdings, car dealerships, a supermarket, a parts distribution chain and bowling alleys. After 10 years of pursuing his own successful private ventures, Fred rejoined the Penney Group in 1980.

Serving in many different roles through his tenure with us, Fred has remained on after retirement as a Director, and continues to be a personal advisor and consultant to Ches. Prior to 2008, Fred also was a partner in the offshore tankers and container shipping operations. He received his C.A. designation in 1962 and received his 50-years recognition pin for his service to us in 2012.
